Every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon, Steps was creating an open and hospitable space for anyone in need of goods and services that should be deemed commons. First aid services, laundry machines, shower and haircut, a hot meal and a cup of tea or coffee, some music, recreational activities for children, a library, legal and human rights information were all provided for free as part of the organization’s initiative to bring people closer. All these, at the very heart of Athens, the small square opposite to Varvakeios central market (Synathina square).
In this journey, we joined forces with Ithaca Laundry, Mano Aperta, Medical Volunteers International e.V., Khora Asylum Support Team, Advocates Abroad, Society of Social Psychiatry and Mental Health, PAREA, R.O.A.D.S, ECHO Refugee Library, MAMbrella

Many Stops project was the transformation of the One Stop project and the emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic and confinement. The restrictive measures and the curfew imposed by the Greek State hindered our gathering at the square. As a result, the Steps’ team organized and coordinated this new project in order to approach street connected people and people living in precarious conditions, on the spots where they already were. Always, supported by and based on the collective effort of groups and individuals (that cooked from their homes) we managed to provide complete daily meals (main course, bottled water, salad, fruit, dessert) and basic, necessary personal hygiene products (gloves, masks, antiseptics) on a daily basis to the most vulnerable populations.
The groups that supported this project were: KHORA, Mano Aperta, Medical Volunteers International e.V., Help Refugees, HumanRights360, Pampiraiki, Hope Café, SOS Refugiados, Rakor Restaurant, Asteras Exarchia, Tsioka Bakeries
